Dr. Ravi Soni is the First and Only Qualified Geriatric Psychiatrist of Gujarat, is a Consultant Geriatric Psychiatrist at Ahmedabad. He completed MBBS and MD in Psychiatry from B J Medical College, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. He got DM in Geriatric Mental Health from King Gearge’s Medical College, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
His internship and residency were completed at B J Medical College, Civil Hospital. After completing his senior residency in Geriatric Psychiatry, he worked as an Assistant Professor for Psychiatry from 2016-18 at Hospital for Mental Health, Ahmedabad. Since 2018, he's been at the GIPS Psychiatry Clinic and De-addiction Center, Ahmedabad.
His areas of work includes Depression in Old Age, Neuropsychiatric manifestation after Cerebro-vascular Diseases (stroke) which includes Depression, Late onset (after 45 years of age) and Very late onset Psychosis (after 65 years of age), Bipolar Disorder in Old Age,
All Dementias, Psychiatric co-morbidities in Parkinson's disease patients, Medically unexplained symptoms in Elderly (Somatization), Psychosis associated with uncontrollable medical illnesses, Delirium - Acute and Persistent (ICU Psychosis), Any Diagnostic And Management Query in Elderly patient with Psychiatric Illnesses.
He was a Sub Investigator in Clinical Trial Phase III for Generalised Anxiety Disorder in 2012. Won the Postgraduate Psychiatry Quiz at the Annual Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, Gujarat State Branch held at Lonavala 2012. Bagged an Award of “Best Senior Resident of the Year” of the Department of Geriatric Mental Health, King George’s Medical University in the year of 2015.
He’s a member of Indian Association of Private Psychiatry (IAPP), Indian Association of Geriatric Mental health (IAGMH), Indian Medical Association, Ahmedabad Medical Association and Indian Psychiatric Society: Life Ordinary, Western Zonal Branch and Gujarat State Branch.
Has been a part of a poster presentation in Annual National Conference of West Zone of Indian Psychiatric Society, November 2012 about “Rise and Fall of Antipsychiatry and its current status”.
He consecutively participated in oral presentations twice. In the Annual Conference of the West Zone branch of Indian Psychiatric Society, November 2012 and in the Annual Conference of Gujarat state branch – Indian Psychiatric Society, September 2012 about “Study of Comparison of stressful life events in depressed and physically ill adolescents” . In the Annual National Conference of Indian Psychiatric Society (ANCIPS), January 2013 about “Rise and Fall of Antipsychiatry and its current status”.
His special training consists of being a Trainer in the Mental Health Primary Care Project run by Dr. G.K.Vankar, Head and Professor, Dept. of Psychiatry and funded by the Mental Health Organization, Health and Family Welfare Department, Govt. of Gujarat from 2008 to 2011.

He played the role of a resource person and organizer as a Guest Speaker on Topics of GERIATRIC PSYCHIATRY, in Many State level and National Conferences. Conducted State level CME/Training workshop for Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social workers on “Diagnosis and Management of Dementia”. As a resource person, about Symptoms and Staging of Alzheimer’s Disease and Pharmacological Management of Dementia.
Attended many conferences and CME’s like the Annual National conference of Indian Psychiatric Society at Kochi 2012 and Bengaluru 2013, the Annual conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, Western Zonal Branch at Daman 2011 and Nasik 2012, the Annual conference of Indian Psychiatric Society, Gujarat State Branch at Jodhpur 2010, Lonavala 2012 and Jaipur 2017, the Annual National conference of Indian Association of Geriatric Mental Health at Lucknow 2013 and Baroda 2015 and Various local, State level, Zonal level and National level CMEs held in different parts of India.
He’s been serving the community as a resource person for “Disability Certification Camp” for Mental Retardation organized by Blind Peoples’ Association in 2010 and 2011, “Mental Health Primary Care Project” run by Dr. G.K.Vankar, Head and Prof., Dept. of Psychiatry and funded by Mental Health Organization, Health and Family Welfare Dept., Govt. of Gujarat from 2008-2011, ‘Disability Certification Camp’ for Mental Retardation organized by Govt. of Gujarat three times in 2017, at various Mental Health Awareness Programs and in celebration of various days like World Elder Day, Elder Abuse Prevention Day, World Suicide Prevention Day, World Alzheimer’s Day, Mental Health Week etc.
